Not only does the Brazilian 6-foot-10 and 270 pound Brazilian big man Cristiano Felicio have way too sizable of a contract for the Bulls to trade at this point in time, he’s likely not an NBA-level talent anyway. Felicio is paid just over $8 million per year for the remainder of his contract, which just goes through next offseason.

When the Bulls handed Felicio the contract extension that he is currently still on, it didn’t look like a great move at the time. And he now has potentially not just the least tradeable contract on the current Bulls roster, but in the entirety of the NBA. It’s just good news for this team that Felicio’s current deal is up pretty soon.

In the season that was for the Bulls, Felicio played in 22 games (starting in none of them). And that’s likely 22 games more than he should’ve played in a Bulls uniform this season. He averaged 3.9 points per game, 4.6 rebounds, 0.7 assists, 0.5 steals, and 0.1 blocks. Felicio shot 63.0 percent from the field and 78.3 percent from the free-throw line.

There’s no way that Felicio should be back with the Bulls beyond next season. And the only reason he should be back with the Bulls heading into next season is the price it would cost to buy him out at this point. If there is any team out there that would be willing to take on the contract of Felicio in any trade package for any reasonable return, the new front office should go right for it.
