1. Wendell Carter Jr., Center
The second-to-last seventh overall pick in the first round of an NBA Draft for the Bulls is also the next player up on this list, and should be an obvious choice at that. While the former Duke Blue Devil standout 6-foot-9 center Carter Jr. was mentioned in trade discussions of late, that doesn’t mean that anything relevant should surface from them.
Unless the Bulls get a really advantageous return on the trade block, they shouldn’t make any moves to dish WCJ out of the Windy City. He did have an up and down second season in the NBA, but that was largely due to the expected inconsistencies in his development and poor usage at times by the coaching staff.
Court vision and an improved offensive arsenal and shooting range is quickly making WCJ into one of the more potent and well-rounded young centers in the Eastern Conference. If the Bulls actually make the move to rid themselves of Boylen at some point this offseason, then it might benefit Carter Jr. than any other Bulls big man too.
An actual trade package for the Bulls involving anyone like LaVine, Markkanen, and/or Carter Jr. should be both well thought out and include a very hefty return with a lot of trade assets and future draft capital. The Bulls can’t give up one of the brightest parts of their future without grinding for the best deal possible if they are ever set on trading WCJ in the near future.
