2. Coby White, Point Guard

The second of the two Bulls rookies on this list does still help to paint a picture of a future that could be bright in the Windy City. The former North Carolina Tar Heels 6-foot-5 point guard White had a very up and down rookie season with the Bulls, but it definitely ended on a high-note. He won the Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month honors for his standout play in February.

That hot play for White continued on from late January, throughout the entire month of February, and on into March prior to the COVID-19 pandemic-induced season hiatus ended the Bulls run after 65 games. But White did play in 65 games in the season that was for the Bulls (starting in the last one of them).

The one start for White came in the final game of the regular season, prior to the hiatus, which resulted in a home win over the Cleveland Cavaliers back on March 10.

He averaged 13.2 points per game, 3.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.1 blocks. White shot 39.4 percent from the field, 35.4 percent from beyond the arc, and 79.1 percent from the free-throw line. That amounted to an effective field goal percentage of 47.8 and a 50.6 true shooting percentage.

That all amounted to a 100 offensive rating/112 defensive rating, 11.9 player efficiency rating, -2.8 box plus/minus rating, -0.3 value over replacement player rating, .026 win shares per 48 minutes, and 0.9 total win shares. White still has a ways to go, but there’s no way that any team would give up on him this early when he’s this hot heading into his first full offseason in the NBA.
