Chicago Bulls: 3 best Wendell Carter Jr. trade destinations
2. Memphis Grizzlies
Yet another team on this list that is one of the up and comers in the West at the moment. The Memphis Grizzlies have a brilliant piece to build around heading into the future with the former Murray State Racers talented rookie point guard Ja Morant. The second overall pick in last year’s NBA Draft should also be the set in stone front runner for the Rookie of the Year honors by now.
The Grizzlies are one of those teams out of the West in the bubble after the NBA’s restart for this season in the midst of the novel coronavirus pandemic that is vying for the eight seed. They would then get to face the Los Angeles Lakers as the one seed in the first round of the playoffs this year.
However, what Morant is doing with the Grizzlies this season is nothing short of special and spectacular. He’s averaging 17.7 points per game, 3.7 rebounds, and 7.0 assists, while shooting just shy of 49 percent from the field. And while the Bulls wouldn’t be getting a chance to nab Morant in a trade package, there are other veteran pieces they could get.
The Grizzlies are likely looking to move other pieces on their current roster like big man Jonas Valanciunas, wing Justise Winslow, and shooting guard Dillon Brooks. Those are a few players that the Bulls might be able to go after, if they were able to dump some other salary of their own, and get a solid draft pick in return.
If the Grizzlies were to move on from someone like Valanciunas in whatever regard they would be able to, then slotting in WCJ alongside power forward Jaren Jackson Jr. and Morant would be a great way for them to build into the future. Jackson Jr.’s natural ability in the pick-and-roll and his distance shooting would combine well with WCJ’s off-ball ability and two-way smarts. They would play off each other very well.
