Veteran Wizards point guard Isaiah Thomas seems to be a fan of the idea of playing with shooting guard Zach LaVine and the Chicago Bulls.

A name that got some interest on the free agent market last offseason that is well known around the NBA is the former Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Isaiah Thomas. But the season so far did not go as planned for IT, as he was looking for a bounce back campaign to rejuvenate his NBA career. That is something that both IT and the Chicago Bulls have in common, that they were looking for bounce back seasons during the 2019-20 campaign.

But nothing of the sort was really able to happen for either side. Thomas put up decent per game stats in his first season with the Washington Wizards, but started to fall short in terms of overall efficiency. Although, there were phases of his game that legitimately improved where it mattered a ton.

In his inaugural season in a Wizards uniform, Thomas played in 40 games (37 of which he started). That was at least through the season’s hiatus through the novel coronavirus pandemic back in mid-March. Through 40 games played, Thomas averaged 12.2 points per game, 1.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 0.3 steals, and 0.2 blocks. He did all that while shooting 40.8 percent from the field, a much improved 41.3 percent from beyond the arc, and a declining 81.6 percent from the free-throw line.

However, the Wizards are the lone team currently remaining outside of the Eastern Conference playoff picture that will be participating in the season’s restart at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, FL. Games are planned to start on July 30 at Disney World, and scrimmages for teams like the Wizards are well underway.

Prior to scrimmages starting back up, Thomas was getting into the gym with fellow well known NBA players, such as Bulls shooting guard Zach LaVine. Thomas was spotted on IG Live a couple of weeks ago shooting around in the gym with LaVine.

There was also an interesting quote that emerged from that IG Live from Thomas. He apparently thinks it would be “cold” if he and LaVine were able to play together in the Windy City. It is an intriguing thought, though, if the Bulls could get a productive IT to possibly come off the bench.

In the season that was for the Bulls, LaVine played in 60 games (starting in all of them). He averaged 25.5 points per game, 4.8 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.5 steals, and 0.5 blocks. LaVine shot 45.0 percent from the field, 38.0 percent from beyond the arc, and 80.2 percent from the free-throw line. He had his best season in the NBA to date, and should only continue that momentum heading into next season.

Next. Why the Bulls should consider trading Zach LaVine. dark

All in all, that thought of what the Bulls could do with a version of Thomas anything similar to how he was with the Celtics would be awesome. But that’s not likely the version that any team is going to get out of Thomas at this point of his career.
