The Chicago Bulls rookie two-way shooting guard Adam Mokoka put on a show in the Amiral League this month to help his team win the title.
Although the NBA is in the midst of its season restart at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, FL, with scrimmages already underway some members of the Chicago Bulls are still staying active during their offseason. The Bulls could be playing in a league featuring the bottom eight teams, if the NBA gets anything underway concerning that matter.
But something would happen soon with that plan to get the bottom eight teams playing in some scrimmages before the official season restart is completed. Scrimmages are already underway for a little under a week now at Disney World, and the regular season games will start back up on July 30.
One particular Bulls player that is keeping active of late away from the NBA is the rookie 6-foot-5 French shooting guard/wing Adam Mokoka. As one of the more potent and intriguing two-way contract players the Bulls have signed in recent years, seeing Mokoka do all he can to keep his game polished and continue to improve is great.
In what is essentially the French Summer League for professional basketball, called the Amiral League, Mokoka and his team won the title and he took home the Finals MVP honors. On July 26, his team won the final by a score of 74-62.
Mokoka himself registered 18 points in the win in a league that also featured fellow NBA participants such as New York Knicks defensive stopper point guard Frank Ntilikina and Detroit Pistons rookie forward Sekou Doumbouya.
Getting active away from the NBA is a good way for Mokoka to continue to develop as one of the more interesting young players in this organization to follow at the moment. He definitely had his flashes of promise in the season that was for the Bulls too.
Mokoka played in 11 games for the Bulls in the season that was, and more than 30 with the G-League affiliate Windy City Bulls. He averaged 2.9 points per game, 0.9 rebounds, and 0.4 assists, in his 11 games played with the Bulls.
It is worth watching to see if the Bulls want to make Mokoka a more integral part of the 15-man roster next season. He won’t get the usual stint in the Las Vegas NBA Summer League to show what he can do. But that’s why it was important for him to shine overseas this summer, like he did in the Amiral League.
