Chicago Bulls: 3 best trade packages involving Thaddeus Young
The Dallas Mavericks do make for a pretty seamless trade partner with the Bulls in terms of the future draft capital that each side has along with the player personnel they could send each way. It would be nice if the proper salary matching was in place for the Bulls to be able to trade LaVine to the Mavericks, but it’s not as of now.
But there is still a way for the Bulls to send off some of their better players to the Mavericks for a good return that would help to further the rebuild heading into its fourth year. What the Bulls send off to the Mavericks in this hypothetical trade package includes Young and third-year former Arizona Wildcats seven-footer and power forward Lauri Markkanen.
That is a lot for the Bulls to send to a Mavericks team that would likely make good use out of both Young and Markkanen. But the Mavericks send a return that includes center Dwight Powell, guard Delon Wright, and an unprotected future first round draft pick. Getting that future first, along with two solid pieces in Wright and Powell makes sending off Markkanen and Young worth it.
Powell could be a really solid complementary piece for the Bulls to place alongside the likes of other bigs like rookie Daniel Gafford and Wendell Carter Jr. Wright also adds valuable backcourt depth alongside LaVine and rookie point guard Coby White. That could also help out a lot since the Bulls could be losing shooting guard Denzel Valentine, combo guard Shaquille Harrison, and point guard Kris Dunn to the free agent market this offseason.
