The results

The duo of Sloan and Love was not your conventional tandem of the time. Many great teams relied heavily on point guard and center’s play, and many dynasty’s were built on those ideals.

Love and Sloan were not like that, neither ever had a ton of assists and while Sloan did play guard, he was tall for his position at the time, as he stood 6-foot-5 off the ground. Bob Love also was tall at 6-foot-8 and though neither consistently led the team in rebounds, they both were always towards the top of the team in that category.

Both men also played very good defense as Sloan was gritty and got a lot of steals. Love helped in the paint and was consistently on the best players for each team. Love ended up getting more recognition for his defensive abilities in the long run, but that didn’t make Sloan’s effort any less special.

While the two were never noted to be best friends, Love was said to have called Sloan the “ultimate teammate”.
