Chicago Bulls: Revisiting D-Rose Knicks trade four years later
Where Rose went from there
The Knicks proved that by that point of Rose’s career that he wasn’t meant for the bright lights and pressure that a big market like Chicago or New York would present for him. With injuries continuing to pile up, as well as off-the-court issues, in the mid-2010’s for Rose, he needed to be in a place where he could focus more on himself and basketball without all that outside noise.
Rose found the right landing spot starting in the 2018-19 season with the Timberwolves. That did prove that a smaller market team, without even necessarily having a an ultra-talented supporting cast on a contending squad, was the right fit by now.
There was a stop with the Bulls divisional foe Cleveland Cavaliers along the way for Rose. Although that didn’t last all that long since Rose was a teammate of LeBron James and Kyrie Irving for just 16 games during the 2017-18 season.
Rose wound up landing with the Timberwolves during the 2017-18 campaign, but only played in nine games before the season concluded. He really took off in a smaller role in 2018-19, where he played in 51 games in the Twin Cities. Rose averaged 18.0 points per game, 2.7 rebounds, and 4.3 assists, in 2018-19.
That solid bounce back for Rose last season earned him a decent two-year contract in the season that is currently placed on pause with another divisional foe of the Bulls, the Pistons. Rose played in 50 games in the season that is on pause in the Motor City. He averaged 18.2 points per game, 2.4 rebounds, and 5.6 assists, in his inaugural season in a Pistons uniform.
