Chicago Bulls: 3 players that benefited most from playing with D-Rose
The run that saw superstar point guard Derrick Rose lead the Chicago Bulls through the early-to-mid 2010’s also saw a lot of his teammates benefit.
During the days for which the former MVP winning point guard and Chicago Bulls superstar Derrick Rose was starring in this city, all seemed well for the foreseeable future. But the Bulls didn’t get the prime years of the 2010-11 NBA MVP award winner D-Rose for all that long before knee injuries started to derail his career (at least at the time).
In the days where Rose was the driving force of all the Bulls success, he was one of the very brightest stars in the NBA. He was a three-time NBA All-Star selection, one-time All-NBA Team selection, 2008-09 Rookie of the Year award winner, and has five individual Eastern Conference Player of the Month awards.
D-Rose played in seven seasons with the Bulls. He averaged 19.7 points per game, 3.7 rebounds, 6.2 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.4 blocks. Rose shot 44.8 percent from the field, 30.2 percent from beyond the arc, and 81.3 percent from the free-throw line. That amounted to a 106 offensive rating/108 defensive rating, 1.8 box plus/minus rating, 13.8 value over replacement player rating, .106 win shares per 48 minutes, 31.4 total win shares, 51.9 true shooting percentage, and a 18.3 player efficiency rating.
The Bulls got just over 400 regular season games from Rose, and 41 playoff games over the course of seven years more or less. He helped elevate the game of a lot of his teammates in the meantime too. He was really that driving force that helped this team find more success than it really ever had since the Michael Jordan-era ended in the Windy City.
Here’s a look back at the three D-Rose teammates that benefited the most from playing with him in Chicago.
