2. Omer Asik, Center
The toughest pick on this list for the Bulls among the last three teams was the former second round pick of the Portland Trail Blazers in the 2008 NBA Draft and seven-footer Omer Asik. This Turkish 7-foot and 255 pound center was the 36th overall pick of the Blazers in the second round of the 2008 NBA Draft.
As a player that showed some potential out of the gates with the Bulls, Houston Rockets, and New Orleans Pelicans, Asik had consistent injuries and ailments cut his career short. Asik did have a good amount of potential as a role player in the Bulls rotation, but he didn’t come to fulfill. That is especially true during his ultra-short run with the Bulls the second time around.
Asik made his debut for the Bulls during the 2010-11 season. He played in all 82 games during the 2010-11 regular season (but didn’t start in any of them). Asik averaged 2.8 points per game, 3.7 rebounds, 0.4 assists, 0.2 steals, and 0.7 blocks, during his rookie season. He really peaked during the 2012-13 season at the age of 26 with the Rockets. That was the only year where he averaged double-digit points per game.
During his last run with the Bulls, Asik played in just four games. He was 31 years old at the time when his NBA career would come to an end. He did get a shot overseas, but his chances in the NBA expired due to injury following the 2017-18 season. In fact he registered as many points as games played in during that season with the Bulls (four).
