In the 2020 NBA Draft, the Chicago Bulls could trade down and still get one of the very best prospects in this class to fill holes in the rotation.
Entering the 2020 offseason, the Chicago Bulls need to have a plan in place to make the best use of their initial opportunities to rejuvenate the rebuild. If you take into consideration the time under the previous front office regime, then the Bulls are about to enter the fourth year of the rebuild. Former vice president of basketball operations John Paxson and general manager Gar Forman sparked the rebuild a few years back, but are now out of their positions of power in the Windy City.
The Bulls rebuild essentially started back during the 2017 offseason, when they shipped off star small forward Jimmy Butler for a return that included the likes of shooting guard Zach LaVine, power forward Lauri Markkanen, and point guard Kris Dunn. That trade didn’t really wind up going as planned for either team up to this point, though.
Paxson was replaced as the lead voice in the Bulls front office by former Denver Nuggets general manager Arturas Karnisovas. The official title Karnisovas will hold with the Bulls is executive vice president of basketball operations. And Karnisovas hired former Philadelphia 76ers vice president of player personnel Marc Eversley to replace Forman as the Bulls next general manager.
According to Tankathon, the Bulls sit in the seventh spot in the draft lottery odds entering the offseason. They own a 7.5 percent chance to get the top overall pick, and a 32.0 percent chance to landing in the top four. IT would be nice to see the Bulls get a more advantageous draft slot than the seventh overall pick, which would be the fourth year in a row they get that spot.
But there should be additional options on the table for the Bulls to piece together their 2020 draft strategy. They should be open to trading down if the right deal presents itself.
Here’s a deeper look into four 2020 NBA Draft targets that are worth trading for the Bulls if the opportunity presents itself.
