Current players Chicago Bulls fans love to hate: Carmelo Anthony

The hatred for Carmelo Anthony doesn’t run too deep anymore, but there’s still a bad feeling lingering in the hearts of many Bulls fans.

Let’s take a trip back to the summer of 2014. The Bulls were coming off a decent 48-34 season and had Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah and Jimmy Butler. All they needed was a guy like Carmelo Anthony to catapult themselves into serious contention for the title.

The Bulls couldn’t offer Anthony as much money as the Knicks could, and we all know what happened next. Anthony has since come out and said there were other reasons for him choosing New York over Chicago, but I don’t believe any of it. Money talks and the Knicks had more of it.

I respect Carmelo as a player. I actually think his career is a little underrated at this point. But had he come to Chicago, the Bulls would’ve been one of the favorites to come out of the East, and Anthony’s career arc would look way different.

In 2014-15, the Bulls went 50-32 and the Knicks went 17-65. Nice choice, Carmelo!
