Pistons star big man Blake Griffin seemingly like what he saw from the 1997-98 Chicago Bulls documentary series called “The Last Dance”.

The recent hit 10-part ABC/ESPN/Netflix documentary series highlighting the 1997-98 Chicago Bulls title-winning team called “The Last Dance” made its finale last month. That Bulls team was vying to win its sixth NBA Championship of that decade during the 1998 NBA Finals, and they were able to pull off that feat with a six-game series victory over the Utah Jazz.

And The Last Dance had a profound on a lot of the younger generations, especially with the spotlight that was shown on all-time great shooting guard Michael Jordan. While there is a great player, that will go down as an instantaneous Hall-of-Fame inductee and all-time great, with the Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James, it’s not the same as MJ.

This illustration was put together with the way that The Last Dance was received by basketball fans around the globe. MJ was a polarizing figure and one of the most influential celebrities back during the late 1980’s and 1990’s, and he can still have a large impact on the youngest generation.

A former rival of Jordan’s, the Central Division foe Detroit Pistons, currently have a star that noticed the docuseries.

Pistons beat writer for The Athletic James Edwards III recently post media call notes from a number of Detroit players, including star power forward Blake Griffin and standout shooting guard Luke Kennard. Griffin individually gave an interesting quote when he apparently called The Last Dance “basketball porn”.

A piece from Michigan Live detailed more on what Griffin had to say on how The Last Dance impacted him. Here’s what he had to say on the subject.

"“It saved me because it gave me something to look forward to every Sunday,” Griffin said. “And then just as a basketball fan, obviously a Jordan fan, that was like basketball porn. It was unbelievable to see all that behind-the-scenes footage.“I’ve gotten to spend a decent amount of time around MJ and heard a lot of those stories. I was telling somebody the other day that he told us a long time ago that story about Dennis Rodman having to go to Vegas just to get his mind off the season. Forever that was like my Michael Jordan story that I could always tell that nobody had heard, and now he’s told it to millions of people.”"

The Last Dance was a great way to bridge the entertainment gap for basketball fans, and general sports fans, around the globe in the midst of the novel coronavirus pandemic. It gave fans something to look forward to each passing Sunday night for a little more than one month.
