This would be the riskiest trade deal of the bunch for the Bulls. If they were able to get a star like Oladipo, it would be a good move, but this would certainly come with a good level of risk. Here the Bulls ship out potential rising star shooting guard 24-year-old Zach LaVine along with big man Cristiano Felicio.
At least in this trade deal the Bulls get the money of Felicio off the books, and the new look front office regime might be able to find more direction building around Oladipo and the other pieces of this young core. It would be interesting to see how the Bulls backcourt of the future could form around the likes of Oladipo and point guard Coby White.
What the Pacers also include in this trade deal is the former UCLA Bruins power forward T.J. Leaf (to give the Bulls bench a bit of bolstering) and a future lottery protected first round draft pick. Leaf is a productive forward that the Bulls could slot into the frontcourt rotation, that would help out the bench a lot more than Felicio does.
All of this deal revolves around the value that the Bulls front office would find in getting a first round draft pick that is lottery protected from the Pacers. Essentially if the Pacers are jumping ship on building around Oladipo after his ruptured quad a year and a half ago, then their draft pick could become more valuable.
