The Pistons are in a similar situation as the Cleveland Cavaliers, other than the memories of having LeBron James leading their franchise. What I mean is they desperately need a star player. They need someone who brings fans to the arena — someone who gets kids excited for Detroit Pistons basketball. At this point in the draft, Killian Hayes is that guy.
Hayes doesn’t have the same name recognition or star power that a guy like LaMelo Ball has right now, but he has the type of game that can eventually get him there. He’s a dynamic scorer and a highlight waiting to happen when the ball’s in his hands. If he grows into his potential, he’ll be a superstar.
The Knicks lucked out here. Falling to no. 7 in the lottery would normally be pretty bad news, but James Wiseman is one heck of a consolation prize.
Wiseman only played in three games for the Memphis Tigers in the 2019-20 season, but he flashed his brilliance in those three games, averaging 19.7 points per game on 76.9 percent shooting from the field to go along with 10.7 rebounds and three blocks. He has a ways to go before he’ll be an All-Star level center in the NBA, but he’s on the right path.
