When you look deeper into what the former 6-foot-8 and 220 pound Florida State Seminoles true freshman forward Patrick Williams brings to the table in certain regards at the next level, it’s hard to believe some assume he could fall to be a mid-second round draft pick. Williams was a former five-star recruit with the 2019 Florida State signing class that is also a Charlotte, NC, native.

During his true freshman campaign, Williams played in just over 23 minutes per game. But he didn’t start in a single game he played in with the Noles during his freshman season. He registered a 55.3 true shooting percentage, 9.2 points per game, 4.0 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 1.0 steals, and 1.0 blocks. He shot 45.9 percent from the field, 32.0 percent from beyond the arc, and 83.8 percent from the free-throw line.

Williams is a pretty versatile offensive talent that could run in an array of different schemes. He could thrive in certain areas of a pick-and-roll or pick-and-pop offense. Williams is a good shooter from inside the three-point arc and could be better from downtown too. Once he gets to the free-throw line, he’s an efficient shooter too.

Moreover, Williams is one of the better all-around defending forwards among the college prospects in this draft class. He’s got good length and physical tools (6-foot-11 wingspan). At Florida State, he registered a 3.2 defensive box plus/minus rating, more defensive than offensive win shares, and a solid 94.1 defensive rating.
