Which potential trade targets around the NBA would be wise for Karnisovas and the Chicago Bulls to pursue this offseason?
The impending offseason will be a massive test for the Chicago Bulls new-look front office regime to finally start to turn this collapsing rebuild around. The Bulls hired former Denver Nuggets general manager Arturas Karnisovas to construct this new direction for the rebuild, hopefully to an even greater degree of success than he found in the Mile High City. Karnisovas did help to construct that contender in the Western Conference led by superstar big man Nikola Jokic and rising star combo guard Jamal Murray.
At the moment, the Bulls are not in a spot where they should be able to immediately build a contender in the Eastern Conference. While that would be very nice if Karnisovas and former Philadelphia 76ers VP of player personnel Marc Eversley could pull that off, realistic expectations among the fans should win the day.
Anything that resembles a playoff contender and a sustainable young team would be great to witness in the Windy City in the near future. But it’s going to take a lot of work. The good news is that if Karnisovas wants to move some pieces around on the trade market, he has ample resources to do so. There’s not any superstar trade chip the Bulls have in the mix (unless they want to part ways with a lottery protected first round pick or rookie point guard Coby White), but al options should be on the table if it feels like the right return.
If the right name pops up on the trade block this offseason, Karnisovas should have full discretion to make the moves he needs to.
Here’s a look into the three potential early trade targets that Karnisovas could have in mind for the Bulls this coming offseason.
