A difficult opponent for Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan throughout the 1990’s was Hall-of-Fame shooting guard Reggie Miller.
A very familiar regular season foe for all-time great Chicago Bulls shooting guard Michael Jordan and his squad were the division rival Indiana Pacers. The Pacers best player in the 1990’s was Hall-of-Fame shooting guard Reggie Miller, who had a mix of rivalry run ins with Jordan and the Bulls.
In part nine of “The Last Dance”, the Eastern Conference Finals series in 1998 between the Bulls and Pacers put a focus on that unheralded rivalry between Miller and Jordan. The former of the two did live in the shadow of Jordan and the Bulls throughout much of his NBA career. But only one of those occasions came during the playoffs.
That elusive seven-game series where the Pacers took the Bulls to the brink in the 1998 Eastern Conference Finals, Miller’s squad nearly pulled off the seemingly impossible and end the run for Jordan in the Windy City before the NBA Finals. But Jordan was still able to pull through and get his team to the NBA Finals to face the Utah Jazz for a second year in a row.
Furthermore, Miller gave the Bulls some tough games while he was starring for the Pacers. He obviously wasn’t up to part with the likes of Jordan, but he was a legend in Indianapolis. Miller registered five All-Star selections, and three All-NBA selections.
In total, there were seven playoff meetings and 49 in the regular season between Miller and Jordan. Most of those came while Jordan played in a Bulls uniform, but seven of the regular season meetings involved him playing for the Washington Wizards.
Here’s a look into three individual games where Miller outplayed Jordan and the Bulls in his career.
