2. Corey Benjamin, Shooting Guard

The latest draft pick on the list in the first round is the 28th overall pick of the Bulls in the 1998 NBA Draft and 6-foot-6 and 200 pound shooting guard Corey Benjamin. The Compton, CA, native and Oregon State Beaver didn’t do much of anything for the Bulls in mixed parts of three seasons with the franchise. In total, he would play in just over 150 career regular season games.

Benjamin would wind up finishing out his NBA career with the Atlanta Hawks during the 2002-03 season. He played in just nine regular season games in a Hawks uniform during the 2002-03 campaign.

In the 144 career regular season games for Benjamin with the Bulls, he averaged 5.5 points per game, 1.6 rebounds, 0.9 assists, and 0.5 steals, while shooting 39.5 percent from the field and less than 30 percent from beyond the arc. Benjamin would contribute -0.9 win shares, a -4.7 box plus/minus rating, and -1.4 value over replacement player rating, in his three years with the Bulls.

Selected after Benjamin in the 1998 NBA Draft were actually some pretty solid pieces including Cuttino Mobley, Nazr Mohammed, Rafer Alston, Rashard Lewis, Ruben Patterson, and Greg Buckner.

Unfortunately for Benjamin, he was made famous for being cooked by Jordan in a one-on-one scrimmage after he told a teammate at practice (Randy Brown) that he could be the all-time great shooting guard. That was a huge mistake for Benjamin and would be the main storyline of his NBA career.
