Khalid El-Amin

It is the birthday of the 5-foot-10 and 200 pound former Bulls and UConn Huskies point guard Khalid El-Amin on April 25. He will turn 41 years old almost exactly 20 years after the Bulls selected him with the 34th overall pick in the second round of the 2000 draft. The Minneapolis, MN, native would have a brief shot at making his way in the NBA.

However, the shot for El-Amin to make a true impact with the Bulls was too limited to ever last. He would play for the Bulls for one season, and not do too much with it. He played in 50 games during his rookie season (starting 14 of them). El-Amin averaged 6.3 points per game, 1.6 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.0 steals, while shooting 37.0 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from beyond the arc.

Jake Voskuhl

The NBA career of fellow UConn product and 6-foot-11 and 245 pound big man Jake Voskuhl would last much longer than that of his ex-teammate and point guard El-Amin. Voskuhl would last until the 2008-09 season, where he would retire after a brief stint north of the border with the Toronto Raptors.

Voskuhl was picked by the Bulls just one slot before El-Amin.

The Bulls would only see Voskuhl play in the Windy City for one season. He played in just 16 games (starting two of them). Voskuhl averaged 1.9 points per game, 2.1 rebounds, 0.3 assists, and 0.4 blocks, while shooting 44.0 percent from the field. The Bulls would trade Voskuhl to the Phoenix Suns for Soumaila Samake and a future second round pick that would eventually be used on Matt Bonner.
