A few of the teammates that Jordan had in his earlier years with the Bulls are easier to forget since most didn’t get to win an NBA Championship. One former Bull and teammate of Jordan’s that didn’t get in on any of the six titles won during the 1990’s is former Ohio State Buckeyes 7-foot and 210 pound big man Brad Sellers.
Sellers was very highly touted coming out of college. The Bulls used their ninth overall pick in the first round of the 1986 NBA Draft to pick up Sellers. He was a very good rebounder and shot blocker during his college days, but that didn’t translate very well. Sellers would wind up only lasting three seasons in the Windy City.
However, Sellers just never quite lived up to the hype that he brought as a very promising seven footer. The Bulls had numerous other early round picks in the early-to-mid 1980’s that became Hall-of-Fame level talents. It is very easy to argue that Sellers was one of the two or three biggest busts among Bulls first round picks from that decade.
In the bits and pieces of three seasons that Sellers played with Jordan and the Bulls, he would start in 118 of the 142 regular season outings. He averaged 8.3 points per game, 3.5 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 0.8 blocks, while shooting 46.4 percent from the field. Sellers would be dealt to the Seattle SuperSonics around the turn into the new decade.
