Chicago Bulls: 3 former players to consider for general manager
A particular niche could be filled if the Chicago Bulls turn to this sect of potential general manager candidates to take their job opening.
The search still rages on for the Chicago Bulls and recently hired former Denver Nuggets general manager Arturas Karnisovas to find his next GM in the Windy City. Karnisovas was hired to be the Bulls next executive vice president of basketball operations, replacing John Paxson in the front office.
All the talk of the town concerning the Bulls, and the entirety of the NBA, at the moment is the hit 10-part ESPN documentary series called “The Last Dance”. But there’s more than just that going on in the Bulls camp right now. They have a critical general manager search ongoing, and no one has emerged as a leading candidate as of late.
There’s a number of candidates that the Bulls considered and had permission to interview already, including Los Angeles Clippers assistant general manager Trent Redden and Philadelphia 76ers vice president of player personnel Marc Eversley. The Bulls have also considered the likes of Dallas Mavericks vice president of basketball operations Michael Finley.
Going the route of hiring a general manager that is younger and well respected former NBA player comes with a lot of benefits if that’s what Karnisovas decides to do. That would be a pretty popular move with a lot of the prospective free agent, trade, and NBA Draft targets that the Bulls could pursue in the next few years.
Despite the solid hire for the Bulls next lead executive in the front office, there’s still a long way that this organization has to go to fully repair their image around the NBA. Paxson and former general manager Gar Forman did a lot of damage to it in recent years.
Here’s a look into the three recent former NBA players that the Chicago Bulls could consider to be their next general manager under Arturas Karnisovas.
