One of the most recent departures from the Chicago Bulls front office amid sweeping changes is the firing of former general manager Gar Forman.

A true sign that the Chicago Bulls are turning the page to the next chapter of the franchise’s rebuild heading into the new decade was the firing of former general manager, and 22-year member of the organization, Gar Forman last week. The Bulls finally made the necessary change to hire a new lead executive to head up the front office. Former Denver Nuggets general manager Arturas Karnisovas was hired on to be the next executive vice president of basketball operations earlier this month.

Karnisovas’ first move as the new lead voice in the front office is to find the replacement for Forman as the next Bulls general manager. The Bulls are currently in the midst of interviewing various general manager candidates, including Marc Eversley of the Philadelphia 76ers and Matt Lloyd of the Orlando Magic.

Forman held the general manager role with the Bulls since he was promoted up in May 2009. He was one of the more tenured general managers in the NBA prior to his departure. Forman started out as a scout with the organization in the late 1990’s. He was the director of player personnel for the Bulls prior to landing the general manager job in the mid-to-late 2000’s.

Where could Forman land next?

According to a report from K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago, there could be another landing spot soon for Forman with another NBA team before the end of the calendar year. Here’s what this piece from NBC Sports Chicago had to say on the matter.

"The early talk around the league is yes. Forman, for all his issues involving trust with some agents and other executives, is also known as an extremely strong talent evaluator. He has two years left on his contract with the Bulls, which will be paid to him in some fashion, a source said. But he’s likely to land a scouting job with another team."

A lot of Bulls fans likely just won’t care where Forman ends up, as long as he and former vice president of basketball operations John Paxson no longer hold significant roles in the Windy City. Paxson is likely to still stay with the organization, but more of an advisory role that has far less decision making power.

Forman would be considered in all likelihood for a scouting role elsewhere. That’s how he worked his way up the Bulls organization over the course of longer than the last two decades. There could still be some value that he offers in that regard with another NBA team.
