4. Ron Harper, Point Guard

The combination of Kerr and former Bulls point guard Ron Harper helped to make this backcourt function beyond Jordan. There was more that needed to happen in the Bulls backcourt rotation beyond Jordan if they were to win as many NBA Championships as they did in the 1990’s. Harper, like Kerr, also won five NBA Championships.

Moreover, Harper spent most of his NBA career in the Windy City. But he would not win all of his titles in a Bulls uniform. Like Kerr won some of his NBA Championships with the San Antonio Spurs, Harper would take home two more rings as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers prior to the end of his run with the Bulls.

During that special 1997-98 run, Harper averaged 9.3 points per game, 3.5 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.3 steals, and 0.6 blocks, while shooting 44.1 percent from the field and just 19 percent from beyond the arc. Harper definitely lost his touch from three-point land in 1997-98, but his defensive ability still remained.

Harper had a solid 1.9 box plus/minus rating in the 1997-98 season, and a value over replacement player rating of 2.3. He also registered 7.2 total win shares during the regular season and .151 win shares per 48 minutes.

Around for one more year after the Jordan-era ended with the Bulls, Harper didn’t make much of an impact after the great one left.
