Prior to the release of ESPN’s “The Last Dance”, who were the best teammates that Michael Jordan had with the Chicago Bulls that season?
When the Chicago Bulls were winning all of those NBA Championships in the 1990’s, the team was at the height of its power and the franchise hasn’t even come close to matching that since. And it maybe never will again. Those Bulls dynasty teams might encompass the most dominant run of any sports franchise in modern history among the big four leagues in the United States.
The Bulls won their final title of the dynasty years in the 1990’s to conclude the 1997-98 season. And that was largely thanks to one final push from all-time great shooting guard Michael Jordan in the latter stages of his career. Jordan wasn’t at his peak at that time. In fact the 1997-98 playoff run for Jordan saw him post the second worst box plus/minus rating of any of the more than 10 appearances he had in his career.
Although that box plus/minus rating he posted during the 1997-98 playoff run still sat at an astonishing 9.0. The lowest of his career was just after his return from his stint playing baseball, in 1994-95, when his playoff box plus/minus rating was still a stellar 8.0.
Yet, in the 1997-98 season the Bulls rallied the gang for one more run at a title. There is a very highly anticipated documentary series rolling out on April 19 regarding this last Bulls team on ESPN/ABC called “The Last Dance”. This will show an interesting deep dive into the final run for Jordan in a Bulls uniform and what his supporting cast brought to the table to help him win that final NBA Championship of his playing days.
Here’s a look into the five best teammates that shooting guard Michael Jordan had playing for the Chicago Bulls in that last title run during the 1997-98 season.
