1. Mark Hughes

Holding a variety of roles around the NBA since he began his run as a coach/front office exec in the league, the Clippers assistant general manager Hughes is a really good candidate to be the Bulls next general manager.

Starting out his run in the NBA as an assistant coach with the Sacramento Kings in 2006, Hughes would then work his way up in the front office ranks just one year down the line. The Kings would only hold onto Hughes during the 2006-07 season. Hughes bolted from Sacramento in 2007 to become the director of scouting with the New York Knicks.

Although, Lloyd was on the coaching staff in a minor role starting in 2002.

That would be the start of the longest run with any organization that Hughes would hold to date in the NBA, as the Knicks director of scouting and director of pro player personnel. He was the director of scouting until 2011. He was promoted to become the director of pro player personnel until 2018.

Hughes also played for the Michigan Wolverines during his college hoops career. He had a brief run with the Detroit Pistons and Raptors in his playing days in the NBA. It wouldn’t take even a decade longer until he started working his way up in the NBA in his post-playing days as a coach/front office exec.
