4 former Chicago Bulls players who would’ve been helpful this season
For one season, when former superstar MVP winning point guard Derrick Rose was leading the way for the Bulls, veteran shooting guard Marco Belinelli was a sharpshooter on the outside for head coach Tom Thibodeau. But the Bulls only had Belinelli for that one season and weren’t able to keep him around beyond that.
Now the San Antonio Spurs are capitalizing what could be the last of the good years of Belinelli’s NBA career. He is in the midst of his fifth season in his second stint with the Spurs. He’s also played for more than a half-dozen different NBA teams. That list of teams he’s also played for included the Golden State Warriors, Charlotte Hornets, and Toronto Raptors.
So far this season, Belinelli isn’t registering his usual solid production off the bench. But he’s still a good shooter from beyond the arc and is a quality depth piece deeper down the bench for the Spurs. In 52 games played, he’s averaging 5.8 points per game, 1.7 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 0.2 steals, while shooting 39.1 percent from the field and 36.8 percent from beyond the arc.
Over the course of his lengthy NBA career, Belinelli averages nearly 10 points per game while shooting 43 percent from the field and 38 percent from beyond the arc. He’s also got a solid true shooting percentage of 55 percent for his career, .075 career win shares per 48 minutes, and a low turnover rate of 10 percent.
