1. Nazr Mohammed, Oklahoma City Thunder Scout/Intelligence
A name that not only has links to the Bulls general manager search right now, but one that also played some for this team is the Oklahoma City Thunder front office exec Nazr Mohammed. There’s not an official title out for Mohammed with the Thunder front office, but he does hold a role that is similar to that of a professional scout/evaluation and intelligence.
Mohammed is also a former Bulls big man that played in three of his last four seasons in the Windy City. The Thunder were the last team that he played for, during the 2015-16 season. He was brought aboard on the Thunder front office in this scouting/talent evaluation and intelligence role three years ago.
According to a report from K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago, the Bulls interviewed Mohammed for this general manager opening last week. That came about at the same time as the news that Thunder vice president of basketball of operations Troy Weaver declined to take the Bulls request for an interview.
Mohammed has worked under the direction of Sam Presti in OKC for the last three years about. And the Thunder made some rather solid under-the-radar moves over that span of time. That included jump starting a rebuild with that famed Chris Paul-Russell Westbrook trade with the Houston Rockets, and the assembly of a consistent playoff contender since Kevin Durant bolted.
