3. Dell Demps, Former New Orleans Pelicans general manager
The interesting tenure of the former New Orleans Pelicans general manager and senior vice president of basketball operations Dell Demps in the NBA could be reignited with the Bulls. Demps is also a former guard that played for three different NBA teams over the course of three seasons in the 1990’s.
The front office career of Demps in the NBA started out with the San Antonio Spurs, as their vice president of basketball operations during the 2005-06 season. He would stay with the Spurs front office in the same until the 2009-10 season. That’s when he picked up the general manager job with the Pelicans (at the time the New Orleans Hornets).
Demps held that general manager role through the end of his run with the Pelicans. He also added senior vice president of basketball operations to his title last season.
Moreover, Mike McGraw reported on his Twitter timeline on April 11 that there is a connection between Demps and the Bulls after the Karnisovas hire.
Last year, Demps would be replaced by the former Cleveland Cavaliers executive David Griffin as the Pelicans general manager. Demps had a rough end with the Pelicans, that was mainly shrouded by the trade-based standoff with superstar big man Anthony Davis. Griffin was the one that would ultimately pull off the trade with the Los Angeles Lakers to send AD out of NOLA, but Demps was the one that drafted and developed him front the Pelicans executive role.
