(#6) Thad Young vs (#11) Luke Kornet

This one isn’t as tricky as the tale of the tape might suggest it should be. Thaddeus Young was signed to bring veteran leadership and toughness to this squad. Luke Kornet is in Chicago to add some rim protection with sneaky shooting ability off the bench. Both have had mixed results. Young’s time fluctuated and frustrated him while Kornet seemed to get more than he deserved.

Kornet is supposed to be the better shooter, but Young is the one shooting his second-most threes per game in a season while hitting them at a career-best rate. This one won’t be easy. But Young’s physical ability is at least enough that his aggressiveness impacts Kornet negatively. If you’ve watched the Bulls this season, that is a very likely scenario.

Winner: Young

(#7) Kris Dunn vs (#10) Cristiano Felicio

This is a fun matchup. Kris Dunn has been fighting against management in Chicago since he arrived in the Butler trade. He’s become a sought-after defensive commodity in spite of that. For many, Cristiano Felicio represents the worst part of roster management for the current regime. His four-year, $32 million dollar contract is an all-time head-scratcher.

On the court, Dunn’s skill level is as far above Felicio’s as the latter stands above the former. Another “neither is an offensive weapon” scenario, the point guard can still put points on the board. Dunn has averaged double-digits twice (2017 and 2018) while Felicio has cracked five points per game just once, back in 2017.

Winner: Dunn
