I feel bad having Rui Hachimura go later in this redraft than he did in real life since he actually had a really solid rookie season, but that’s just the way the cookie crumbles.
During the 2019-20 season, Hachimura proved that he’ll be a quality role player in the league for a long time. He’s a versatile forward who can play multiple positions, attack the rim and finish around the cup from various angles.
After acquiring Jimmy Butler and unlocking the greatness that is Bam Adebayo, the Miami Heat are now one of the league’s premier teams. Hachimura would be an excellent piece for them. He can slot in next to Adebayo in the frontcourt, helping them stay in win-now mode, but at 22 years old, he gives them a nice, young piece to keep around for years to come.
Would the Heat love to have Tyler Herro fall to them again? Of course, but that wouldn’t happen knowing what we know now. Hachimura is a really nice consolation prize at the end of the lottery.
