With (most of) one season’s worth of information under our belts, let’s go through and redraft the most recent NBA draft lottery.

The future of the 2019-20 NBA season is up in the air. There’s still a chance that there will be some games played once this whole COVID-19 situation is under control, but there’s also a chance that the situation won’t be under control in time for more games to be played. We’re in uncharted territory. No one knows how this will play out.

If the season is indeed over, that means we have one season of knowledge under our belts about the 2019 draft class. If we did the draft over again, knowing what we know now, how would it look?

Important note: If a trade was made during the real draft, that same trade will take place during this redraft. For simplicity, the selection will be made by the team that ended up with the player in the real draft (e.g., the Lakers technically owned the no. 4 pick, but it was traded to the Hawks — in this redraft, the Hawks will be making the no. 4 pick).

69. . Forward. New Orleans Pelicans. Zion Williamson. 1. player

Who else would be in this spot?

Zion Williamson only played in 19 games this season, but he was absurd in those 19 games, averaging 23.6 points per game on 58.9 percent shooting from the field to go along with 6.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists. He put up those numbers while playing fewer than 30 minutes per game.

After stepping foot onto the court, he immediately became one of the best players in the NBA already. Sure, his long-term health is a question mark, but that wouldn’t stop any team from taking him first overall. He’s a once-in-a-generation type player.

Original pick: 1
