As a whole, the 2020 NBA Draft class isn’t going to offer a ton of value off the top unless the Chicago Bulls get very lucky in the lottery.
The NBA season might be coming to an end season by all accounts. According a report from ESPN’s Brian Windhorst on April 3, the NBA is “angling” to find a deal that cuts the season to an end. As of April 4, the NBA is close to going on a month without any game action. The last game that the Chicago Bulls played in came on March 10 in a win at home over the Cleveland Cavaliers.
If the season is in fact over now, then a lot of the focus will immediately turn to the 2020 NBA Draft. Like the 2020 NFL Draft, anything that can keep people at a distance while still getting stuff done can command all attention of the sports world. The 2020 NBA Draft could do the same if they are bound to keep the same June start date.
But the draft scouting process is definitely going to be interfered with along the way. The NBA Combine and really any other big time draft scouting event is going to be cancelled in all likelihood. Even most of the major college hoops conference tournaments and the NCAA Tournament were cancelled last month due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
According to Tankathon, the odds are the greatest for the Bulls to get the seventh overall pick in the draft.
Sound familiar?
But those same Tankathon odds do have the Charlotte Hornets as the average odds pick to get seventh. That would put the Bulls closer to the sixth overall pick. Either way, that is a pretty depressing spot for the Bulls to land in this draft lottery.
If the Bulls do get the sixth or seventh overall pick, they need to be very careful not to pick one of the over-hyped prospects in this class.
Here’s a deeper look into the five most overrated prospects in the 2020 NBA Draft class that the Chicago Bulls should avoid.
