Chicago Bulls fans have been begging for a front-office change for years. It finally looks like that will happen.
The dynamic duo in the Chicago Bulls’ front office known colloquially as GarPax has been the target of Bulls Nation hatred for years. If you’re familiar with Bulls fans, you’re probably familiar with the slogan “Fire GarPax.” Fans even broke out in a “Fi-re Gar-Pax!” chant on national TV when Zach LaVine was being interviewed on ESPN’s The Jump.
As a general note: It’s not a good thing for a franchise to have it’s fans loudly interrupt a live television program with chants to fire those in charge of making basketball decisions. It’s just not a great look.
Now, changes are finally coming.
Per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Chicago Bulls have officially started searching for a new top executive to have full authority on basketball decisions.
Story filed to ESPN: The Chicago Bulls have started a formal search process to hire a new top executive with full authority on basketball decisions, sources tell ESPN.

The words “full authority on basketball decisions” will have Bulls fans salivating. This is all we’ve wanted for years.
Does this mean Jim Boylen will finally be out? Will the Bulls make better roster construction decisions? Hope finally exists.
According to Woj, Paxson will likely keep his advisory role and Forman will possibly have a job as well. None of that matters to me, though. As long as someone else is in charge of basketball decisions, I’ll be happy.
Ownership has discussed the plan with Executive VP of Basketball Operations John Paxson and GM Gar Forman, sources said. Paxson is likely to continue in an advisory role with franchise; there are expected to be more conversations with Forman about his future too. https://t.co/zLRRfjsFey

Obviously, this story pales in comparison to what’s going on in the world right now. But it’s always nice to have a little distraction from real-world problems. Sports are normally that escape for people, but with this current pandemic, sports have been on hold.
This is better news for Bulls fans than winning games this season would’ve been. Today is a huge win for Bulls Nation. Let’s celebrate (responsibly, in the comfort of your own home, of course).
