Bobby Webster, Toronto Raptors GM

A name that will always stick out in any big front office candidate search in the NBA nowadays is the Toronto Raptors general manager Bobby Webster. Starting his front office career in basketball out in 2006, Webster served in various roles in the NBA’s front office. Most of the roles he served during his time in the NBA front office were in a CBA negotiation, luxury tax, and/or salary cap management capacity.

Webster is one of the youngest rising stars in the NBA front office ranks in this day and age. He’s still in his mid-30’s and has a long way to go before he could reach his true potential in a managerial role. Something that also sticks out about Webster was that he was the first front office hire that Raptors president Masai Ujiri made when he landed with this organization.

Since Ujiri first brought him aboard north of the border, Webster steadily rose up the Raptors front office ladder. He’s now serving as the general manager in his fourth year. Webster was originally named general manager of the Raptors back in 2017. He won his first NBA Championship with superstar forward Kawhi Leonard in Toronto last year.

While Ujiri gets most of the credit and attention for building up the Raptors roster to how it is at the current point in time, Webster deserves a lot of recognition too. Under his watch, the Raptors drafted and/or developed under-the-radar gems like Terence Davis, Fred VanFleet, and Pascal Siakam in just the last two or three years.
