Not to say that a a high school basketball player like the Kentucky Wildcats elite five-star 6-foot-7 and 185 pound shooting guard signee Terrence Clark has an extremely high floor already, but he would be the one to name at his position in this class.
Clark ranks as the nation’s top ranked shooting guard in the 2020 recruiting class, and also the No. 4 high school prospect overall. He’s also the top ranked prospect out of Massachusetts. Clark signed with head coach John Calipari and the Kentucky program back during the Early Signing Period, in November 2019.
His 247Sports recruiting profile compares him to the likes of former Kansas Jayhawk shooting guard/small forward and lottery pick Josh Jackson. Hopefully he has better luck out of the gate in the NBA than Jackson did, though. But the lanky frame, insane physical tools and athleticism, and smooth nature to his game is a valid comparison between Clark and Jackson as prospects.
A consistently improving shooting ability, great court vision, natural on and off-ball defensive awareness and ability, and good ball handling and shot creation make for a very impressive skill set that Clark is about to bring to Kentucky. Keep improving the jump shot, and Clark could easily go as a top five pick in this draft.
For now, the Detroit Pistons would be very lucky to land Clark at this point in the lottery. But this point of the first round of the 2021 draft should be extremely deep with lengthy wings/shooting guards. Clark still has something to prove in college.
