player. Pick Analysis. Devin Askew. 38. Scouting Report. Combo Guard. HS-Kentucky. 13

A name that should rise up draft boards very fast next year should be the to-be Kentucky Wildcats combo guard and five-star recruit Devin Askew. This Santa Ana, CA, native and Mater Dei High School product is already generating a lot of buzz in regard to his court vision and pure scoring ability.

Askew stands at 6-foot-3 and 175 pounds, and has a lot of parts of his skill set that fits well in the modern NBA. He’s a good shot creator, and a good sharpshooter. He’s able to glide through the lane and finish with effortless ease. Given his versatile offensive skill set, Askew will be able to possibly be a spark plug off the bench in the NBA right away.

The Orlando Magic might be able to use a fresh start in the backcourt rotation. They did take a flier out on the former first overall pick and point guard Markelle Fultz last season, and he did start to improve as it moved along. Askew presents the opportunity to give the Magic another versatile option that could start down the road in the backcourt rotation.

Askew is a good fit with a number of teams. But his play at Kentucky next season will be very telling as to if he goes as a late lottery pick, or later on in the first round in general. As of now, there’s a really good chance that Askew could fall in the lottery, likely closer to the back end, but his ceiling is very promising both in college and the NBA.
