USC landed a superstar prospect when they were able to get the signed National Letter of Intent from a top ranked center during the Early Signing Period. The Trojans signed the 6-foot-11 and 205 pound top ranked center in the nation for the 2020 recruiting cycle back in November 2019 with five-star California native Evan Mobley.

Ranking as the nation’s top overall 2020 high school prospect for much of this recruiting cycle, Mobley looks to be about as good as it gets. But he’ll run into limitations similar to what the former Memphis Tigers five-star signee and center James Wiseman is through the 2020 draft scouting process.

Mobley does have set limitations to part of his game it seems. He’s pretty quick for his size, but needs to add weight to his frame. Sitting at 205 pounds is pretty thin for a 6-foot-11 big man. But he’ll have time to add size to his frame within the next calendar year. This skilled Rancho Christian High School product was still very highly sought after throughout his recruitment.

There is still the ability of Mobley to do about everything well that you could think of within the three-point arc. If he can extend his shooting range beyond 16-feet from the rim, then his ability to become the No. 1 pick in the 2021 draft will truly start to unravel. But for now the comparison to the Spurs veteran power forward LaMarcus Aldridge on his 247Sports recruiting profile is pretty accurate.

The Hawks would be good to get another big man to help along the development and rise to superstar of the former Oklahoma Sooners point guard Trae Young. Add Mobley to a Hawks team that also has former Wake Forest Demon Deacon John Collins and Young in the mix is a great fit.
