1987-1998. 2. player. Pick Analysis. Small Forward. Scottie Pippen. 24. Scouting Report

It goes without saying that the Bulls needed Pippen along with Jordan to make all those title teams work in the dynasty years in the 1990’s. Pippen completed out what was maybe the best duo in the history of the NBA. They definitely have the title numbers to back up that claim.

Pippen was the first round pick technically of the Seattle SuperSonics, fifth overall out of the Arkansas Razorbacks basketball program, in the 1987 NBA Draft. He would wind up with the Bulls for the first decade of his NBA career. He would then spend one season with the Houston Rockets after his Bulls run ended the first time, and four with the Portland Trail Blazers.

In every season where Pippen started in more than 60 games, he was an All-Star selection. In total, Pippen held seven All-Star selections, six titles, seven All-NBA Team honors, 10 All-Defensive Team honors, and he was the steals champion during the 1994-95 season. He also added one All-Star Game MVP team to his resume, but he never had an actual NBA MVP.

Any player that had three All-NBA First Team selections and no MVP honors, with as many titles as Pippen had, comes as a misnomer. Pippen’s highest placement in the final MVP voting was in 1994 when he finished third. He did have three top 10 finishes in the final voting from 1991-1996. His only seasons in the top 12 of the MVP voting came during his first run with the Bulls.
