With the possibility of the NBA 2019-2020 season coming to an end, the current  standings is the lottery order for the 2020 NBA Mock Draft.

The COVID-19 virus has taken the world by storm, and although in a time like this there are things that are far more important than sports, basketball is certainly very missed globally. It is unclear what the NBA’s plan of attack regarding the rest of the 2019-2020 season will be, but things are clearly not looking promising. If Adam Silver were to call this season a wash, the current NBA standings would be the lottery order.

If this were the case, the Chicago Bulls would once again be slated to pick seventh overall. It is very unclear what the team would do with their fourth straight seventh pick. The team supposedly has their starting lineup assembled, with a young and promising player at all five positions. Trading the pick in a package for an established star is certainly a possibility, but perhaps the front office has a player in mind to add to the Bulls’ arsenal of young players.

As we saw last year, the new lottery system can completely look very different from the standings and subsequently derail mock drafts. However, keeping an eye on teams’ needs, player trends, and scouting profiles are essential for fans to have a good idea of what this draft class could look like and how the draft could shake up based on individual team needs.

Thus, the sixth edition of the Pippen Ain’t Easy mock draft series will take fans through picks one through forty seven, which is the Bulls’ second round pick acquired from the Memphis Grizzlies. Each pick will include the player’s stat line, a synopsis of their prospect profile, and an explanation as to why the pick makes sense for the team on the clock. The draft order is based off of the NBA standings after the hiatus was called by commissioner Silver and every pick is assumed to be retained by the clubs that currently hold them.

Additionally, I would like to wish everyone well during these uncertain times. Please be safe and healthy, practice social distancing, and follow orders given out by medical professionals. You all are in my thoughts and prayers. Hopefully basketball will be back soon in order to keep our minds off of the stress and craziness of today, but for now, I hope you all enjoy this mock.
