The early premier of the docuseries starring Chicago Bulls legendary shooting guard Michael Jordan, “The Last Dance”, will arrive on April 19.
ESPN came through in clutch time on March 30 for not just Chicago Bulls fans, but basketball fans in general. According to a report from Andrew Marchand of the New York Post on Monday night, ESPN will be moving up its release date of the 10-part documentary series “The Last Dance” to premier on April 19.
The original release date for The Last Dance was set for early June. But there were various discussions and rumors that took place along the way that it could be released earlier.
And here we are.
Here’s what that piece from Marchand at the New York Post had to say on the subject.
"ABC/ESPN’s highly anticipated 10-part Michael Jordan documentary, “The Last Dance,” is being moved up to April, The Post has learned.Sources said the start date will be Sunday, April 19. It was originally slated for June.ABC/ESPN plans to make an announcement on “Good Morning America” on Tuesday, according to sources.ESPN declined to confirm either the start date or the GMA plan. The documentary was set to debut in June prior to the coronavirus outbreak that has halted games at all levels of competition. –– ADVERTISEMENT ––"
The announcement of the move-up of the release date of The Last Dance comes in the midst of the novel coronavirus pandemic. The NBA’s 2019-20 season is in hiatus, and has been since March 11. Who knows when the season will get back up and running too?
For the time being, this is great news for the sake of entertainment and having something to look forward to for Bulls fans. There is also the impending NBA 2K20 Tournament that will be taken part in by professional players only that will be airing on ESPN. There’s at least some basketball entertainment to look forward to in the coming weeks now.
The Last Dance is a docuseries that will be covering the final run for all-time great shooting guard Michael Jordan during his time with the Bulls. That 1998 title team would split up the following summer and the rebuild would officially begin in the Windy City.
This docuseries should give an interesting look into what went on behind closed doors in that famed final team for the Bulls dynasty years in the 1990’s. Jordan would wind up retiring from basketball for a second time, before joining the Washington Wizards for one last go-round before he officially called it quits for good.
Social media was going off about the potential of an early release of The Last Dance for a while now. Even Los Angeles Lakers superstar forward and three-time NBA Champion LeBron James was advocating for the early release last week.
The long-awaited release of The Last Dance now moves a bit closer. The 10-part series will help Bulls fans pass the time during the COVID-19 spread much faster when new episodes are airing. Hopefully this series delivers on the hype it has building right now.
