3. Chandler Hutchison, Small Forward

The most obvious name on the list for the Bulls to keep around moves into maybe the most controversial. A lot of Bulls fans might feel that the former Boise State Broncos first round NBA Draft pick and second-year 6-foot-7 small forward Chandler Hutchison isn’t worth keeping around for much longer.

But there was enough value that Hutch brought to the table this season at a huge position of need for Boylen and the Bulls to warrant him landing another NBA contract once his rookie deal is done.

Given that the Bulls still hold the rookie contact of Hutch for a while, it would likely be a trade that would have to send him out of the Windy City. But that might be a bad move that he still showed marked progress this season. Hutch averaged 7.8 points per game, 3.9 rebounds, 0.9 assists, and 1.0 steals, while shooting 45.7 percent from the field and 31.6 percent from beyond the arc.

The most concerning part about bringing back Hutch beyond this season would be the spotty injury history. Hutch couldn’t even stay healthy down the stretch prior to the hiatus this season. He played in just 28 games this season prior to getting surgery on that nagging right shoulder that caused him so much stress in recent years.

Maybe if the Bulls do come back this season in a few months and play some more games Hutch could be back in the mix. Or maybe he’ll take this very extended down period and rest up for the next season, whenever that is to arrive.
