5. Coby White

Feb. 25: 124-122 Loss vs. Oklahoma City Thunder

I’ve already done a list on the five most memorable games from the rookie season of the former North Carolina Tar Heels 6-foot-5 and the first round 2019 NBA Draft pick of the Chicago Bulls Coby White. And while it might not be the most memorable since the Bulls wound up falling short by the final score of 124-122 on Feb. 25 at the hands of the Oklahoma City Thunder, White had a very special night.

The Bulls had trouble getting White support while he was scorching hot in the scoring department in three games between Feb. 22-25. There was only one win in three tries for the Bulls while White was scoring at least 33 points in each game. But the game where he posted a career-high in points came on Feb. 25 at home, when he scored 35 against the Thunder.

The game score that White posted of 27.9 is the 11th best among any Bulls player in any game this season. But it’s the best game score of any Bulls player not named Zach LaVine. And both White and LaVine made this a very memorable game for the Bulls, despite the loss. White and LaVine combined for 76 points and 12 boards in this game alone.

Not having one of the five best game scores of the season doesn’t necessarily mean that this game for White wasn’t one of the five best individual performances of the season to date. White posted an insane offensive rating of 159 and box plus/minus rating of 13.9 against the Thunder. Unfortunately veteran point guard Chris Paul and the Thunder still got the best of the Bulls in the end.
