Chicago Bulls: Ranking 5 best wins of the season so far
The most recent triumph for the Chicago Bulls on this list came over the Dallas Mavericks at home at the United Center on March 2. The Mavs would be without the services of star forward Kristaps Porzingis, but MVP contending 6-foot-7 point guard Luka Doncic was in the starting five. Luka was just coming back from an ankle injury in this game.
This is one of only two wins that the Bulls notched over an opponent with a winning record at the time of the game. Boylen doesn’t do well to beat teams that have winning records, and that’s a trend that stems back to his time as the interim head coach last season. But his team somehow managed to get the best of Luka and the Mavs at the beginning of this month.
Moreover, most of the efficient production from the Mavs on offense actually didn’t come from Doncic. Posting an offensive rating of just 100 and a box plus/minus rating of -2.8, Doncic didn’t have his best game on March 2. Shooting guard Tim Hardaway Jr. would post a team-high 26 points while shooting 47.6 percent from the field. Meanwhile, small forward Dorian Finney-Smith had 18 points on 70 percent shooting from the field.
The Bulls had a pretty well-rounded team effort in the starting five and off the bench against the Mavs. OPJ would be back from injury and score 18 off the bench. Point guard Ryan Arcidiacono would also get a rare double-figures scoring night off the bench, with 10. Valentine and White combined for 36 points to give the Bulls their biggest boost.
