At this point, it looks like the prized get in the 2020 NBA Draft for the Chicago Bulls could be the former Illawara Hawks NBL 6-foot-7 point guard LaMelo Ball. A point guard that could be the first round pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, the Bulls would have to get very luck in the lottery to be able to land the services of Ball.

The brother of the former UCLA Bruins five-star recruit and 6-foot-6 point guard Lonzo Ball, LaMelo has plenty of encouraging signs early in his basketball journey. He’s not the best outside shooter, but he’s an elite offensive playmaker, aggressive driver, and talented defender on and off-ball.

The good news for any NBA fans looking for comparisons between Lonzo and LaMelo in their development is that the former brother showed a lot of progress with the New Orleans Pelicans this season. The movement in the NBA to have more pace and space and also still place an emphasis on solid perimeter defense really benefits the skill sets of these two Ball brothers.

What LaMelo also brings the Bulls that their other guards don’t is a potentially elite playmaking and defense. In just 12 games played in the NBL, Ball averaged 17.0 points per game, 7.6 rebounds, 6.8 assists, and 1.6 steals, while shooting 37.5 percent from the field and 25.0 percent from three-point land.
