2. Space Jam (1996)

One of my personal favorite movies of all-time, and one that features the former Chicago Bulls all-time great shooting guard Michael Jordan, is the 1996 box office hit “Space Jam”. I talked about the production of Space Jam 2 before this slide, but it will be hard to top the original movie.

Space Jam featured a number of other former NBA stars such as Larry Bird (still retired at the time of filming), Charles Barkley, Larry Johnson, Shawn Bradley, etc. And it was the first introduction to the “Monstars” that challenged MJ and the Looney Tunes to a basketball game once they invaded earth.

Jordan winds up balling on the Monstars and setup quite the finish.

But this movie was also filmed during the controversy of MJ’s first retirement and his path to try and make it playing professional baseball. Part of the film is done with Jordan in a Birmingham Barons uniform.

Instead of MJ trying to save the Looney Tunes world from the Monstars, it will be LeBron once Space Jam 2 releases. Given how long it’s been since the original movie in this series released, that will be a weird sight.
