An inept performance from the management and coaching staff for the Chicago Bulls so far this season is anything but impressive 60 games in.
It’s hard to imagine the stretch of the season for the Chicago Bulls since the turn of the calendar year. Now at the 60-game mark, the Bulls hold a record of 20-40. They’ve lost all but one game since coming out of the All-Star Break. That stretch held some bad losses too, including to the New York Knicks, Charlotte Hornets, and Phoenix Suns. Any hope of the Bulls making a playoff run out of All-Star Weekend with an easier schedule last month is now dashed.
The schedule won’t get any easier for the Bulls from here on out, though. Five of their next six games are either against playoff teams, away from the friendly confines of the United Center, or both. Next up for the Bulls is a home meeting with star guard Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks at the United Center on March 2.
Really the only good news the Bulls could be getting over the next few days is more key players returning from injury. Power forward Lauri Markkanen was just assigned to the G-League affiliate Windy City Bulls for a brief rehab stint before he is supposed to return to the NBA roster. Markkanen was previously dealing with a pelvic injury.
And center Wendell Carter Jr. returned from the sprained ankle he was dealing with, in the Bulls Saturday loss to the Knicks. Small forward Otto Porter Jr. should be returning soon from his foot fracture too.
Injuries aside, this wasn’t the most impressive coaching job and roster assembly even by the Bulls low standard with the current personnel in place. How does the coaching staff and front office of the Chicago Bulls grade out 60 games into the 2019-20 regular season?
