After a potentially season-ending back injury, the Chicago Bulls might be able to buy low on the Philadelphia 76ers towering point guard Ben Simmons.
There’s always the opportunity for one team around the NBA to disband their core too early and for another team to take advantage of that fact. This is what the Chicago Bulls could do if they manage to turnover their front office and the Philadelphia 76ers continued this downward trend at the same time.
The Bulls are well out of the playoff picture nearly 60 games into the regular season, so there’s not much hope left that they can salvage a run. The goal during Training Camp and the preseason seemed to be getting to the playoffs, but that hope was knocked off the rails by the halfway mark of the regular season.
Another team in the Eastern Conference that failed to live up to their preseason billing was the Sixers. While the Sixers are still a dark horse contender in the East, especially if they get their best players back for the playoffs healthy and ready to go, they haven’t been that true challenger of the Milwaukee Bucks like they were anticipated to be.
The Sixers are maybe the best team in the NBA at home, but they are worse than a .500 squad on the road. Since they’re unlikely to get home court advantage during the postseason, that will mean an uphill battle starting in round one.
If the Sixers can’t even make it past round one in the playoffs this year, what does that mean for their four best players (meaning big men Al Horford and Joel Embiid, point guard Ben Simmons, and forward Tobias Harris)?
At least one of those four would presumably be traded this summer.
Here’s a look into three potential trade packages if the Philadelphia 76ers were to trade a player like Ben Simmons to the Chicago Bulls.
