Chicago Bulls rookie guard Coby White has been balling out lately. Unfortunately, he suffered an injury prior to today’s practice.
Over the last week, Coby White has been offering Chicago Bulls fans a glimmer of hope. In a dreary part of the season for non-playoff teams, there usually isn’t much to be excited about. White’s recent play has been national-attention worthy, though.
Coby’s last three games:
- 33 points on 11-of-22 shooting from the field and 7-of-13 from three
- 33 points on 11-of-18 shooting from the field and 5-of-9 from three
- 35 points on 13-of-21 shooting from the field and 6-of-9 from three
The only thing I was looking forward to watching in the Bulls’ next game was Coby White. Unfortunately, there’s a chance that won’t be possible.
Per K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago, White tweaked his back prior to today’s practice, leading to him sitting out of the session.
It’s unclear how major this injury is. Obviously, there’s a chance that it was a minor tweak and he’ll be perfectly fine in a day or two. Thankfully, the Bulls don’t play until Saturday. But this could also be one of those back injuries that lingers around the young point guard for a while. That would be the worst case scenario and a huge bummer for The Rook.
If this injury has an impact on the rest of White’s rookie season, it could be a setback on his development. He finally looks like he’s getting a grip on the whole NBA thing, so an injury is the last thing he needs right now (selfishly, also the last thing Bulls fans need).
Hopefully we get some good news in the coming days.
